Deans Conference 2008 - Foreword

SEFI organized the 2nd Deans Conference that took place in Berlin in February 2008 after a successful start in Florence, Italy 2005. Engineering education at HEls remains one of the leading challenges of this decade. Consequently, SEFl wanted to offer to the Deans of engineering of its members and of the engineering education community in general, a specific forum of discussion and exchange of experiences mainly based on best practices for problems occurring in the course of adopting the Bologna Process.

The conference, and in this way, it differs from the SEFl Annual Conferences which are dedicated to a broader audience, was especially addressing the rectors and deans of engineering education.
Special focus was put be on the quality assuranee in edueation at HEIs, the internationally acknowledged accreditation, the global perspectives provided under the umbrella of IFEES, motivation of first year students best practices in engineering curricula.

The Proceedings of the event actually consist in the compilation of the PDF presentations and that constituted the basis for very dynamic and fruitful discussions.
